Beth's story

Beth began her career with us as a Graduate Trainee Accountant.

She joined Corrigan in January 2023 after graduating from the University of Bristol with a degree in Biology. Beth passed her final exams in August 2025 and so will fully qualify as a Chartered Accountant in January 2026.

“I knew I wanted to stay in Bristol after graduating because I loved the city. I also knew that I didn’t want to pursue a career in science but always enjoyed the ‘numbers side’ of it, which led me to explore accountancy as a career path. The idea of joining a small independent firm interested me as I felt it would be somewhere I could actively make a difference to the firm’s future and feel like part of a team as opposed to just another number’”.

“From the moment I joined Corrigan I felt welcomed and supported by my colleagues, which continues to this day. Whenever I have asked for help, managers have always been more than willing to assist. Corrigan is a very nurturing environment where seeking support is met with respect and encouragement. This, along with the fact that I was still studying, aided my transition from university into the workplace”.

“Having passed my final ACA exams, I am now considering pursuing the CTA qualification as I would like to specialise in the corporate side of tax. My advice for others thinking of starting an apprenticeship in accounting is to make sure you can manage your time well – working whilst studying can be challenging, but it is incredibly rewarding”.
