There’s not much joy in the Christmas air right now with the Brexit deal seemingly beyond our grasp.
Business is nothing if not adaptable but it would be good to know at this stage what we are adapting to!

The uncertainty caused by the delay runs the risk of cooling the economy but the uncertainty of a hard Brexit would surely be worse.
Let’s hope there’s a happy ending in store but it’s not looking like anything will get decided this side of Christmas so the uncertainty is going to extend into the New Year.

On a more positive note we are excited to celebrate our 10th birthday at the beginning of next year. The practice started with me and Julian in one room on King St at the height of the financial crisis in Jan 2009. We’ve come along way since then with a staff of around 20 in our recently refurbished office just on Lower Park Row. We’re planning some events next year to mark the occasion so look out for those.

Moving with the times I am delighted to announce we are converting to a limited company on 1 Jan 2019. A share structure gives us a better platform to expand and develop the ownership of the business with Richard and myself joined as directors and shareholders in the limited company by Pete Edwards, Stuart Crisp and Alison Byrne. Sticking to more familiar territory however we still plan to use the title “partner” for the five of us. Hand in hand with the incorporation we have been working with Burleigh Create to develop a new brand identity which reflects our coming of age as a business and our mission to bring a fresh level of thinking to our clients’ opportunities and challenges. Our corporate finance work has grown significantly this year with several brokered business exits and retirements. We expect that trend to continue along with the growth of accounts automation as I’ve mentioned before in this newsletter. We’re growing and developing our staff to continue to provide these services to our clients.

None of this would be possible without a dedicated staff and the loyal support of our clients and business partners so I thank you all for your contribution and wish you a very happy Christmas and a successful New Year!
