HMRC has recently released its annual report on the amounts raised under the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, for the year ended 5 April 2016.

Although the figures for both schemes were slightly less than the previous year, at £1,647m for EIS and £170m for SEIS, these are still impressive sums of money, invested in nearly 5,000 companies.

Corrigan Associates continues to help many companies raise money under these schemes, and also acts for numerous investors.

HMRC suggests that the reduction may be due to some slight tightening of the rules in the summer of 2015, but regardless of this, the tax incentives for risk capital continue to enable companies to grow, creating jobs and adding immensely to the wider economy.
